MCI inspection and control teams detected a group of illegal QNET Marketing. This group aims to deceive the clients of fast profit and raising money illegally, claiming that it is a kind of investment. This kind of illegal online trade activity is based on deception, fraud and manipulation.
The details go back when MCI inspectors receive a tip that a QNET Marketing Group is holding meetings in several hotels in Riyadh for training on QNET activities. Immediately, MCI judicial control officers, in cooperation with the joint security campaigns in Riyadh, started the necessary investigation and verification for ten hours, from 02 p.m. to 12 midnight.
Accordingly, a group of four persons has been arrested, one from G.C.C., a Saudi citizen and two Saudi women. The defendants were involved in the coordination and making the necessary arrangements for QNET activities, such as reserving hotel halls and sending invitations to clients to attend the training on QNET marketing activities.
Upon raiding the site, MCI inspectors found 20 members of both sexes attending the training, as per the invitation given to them by the four organizers. It has been found out that the attendants have paid more than SR 200,000 in cash or as a remittance to the organizers’ bank accounts. This is beside paying SR 30 for each attendant.
Meanwhile, MCI inspectors also seized documents containing data and the telephone numbers of the participants, as well as other QNET marketing data. Immediately, those involved were arrested and handed- over to the security authorities for taking the necessary legal measures against them.
Notably, the Network Marketing Activity is prohibited in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as per the Ministerial Decree, issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Investment, which stipulates the prevention of Network or Pyramid Marketing, as well as the advertisement or the promotion for such illegal trade activity, or by any other means. This is in addition to the Ministerial Decree issued by the Ministry of Interior, which stipulates that the Financial fraud issues are considered crimes punishable by arrest.
The Ministry of Commerce and Investment will not hesitate to take stern measures and to impose the legal penalties against those who are involved in the Network or Pyramid Marketing Activity, as well as those advertising or promoting for such illegal trade activity by any means. MCI calls on all consumers to lodge their complaints or observations regarding this kind of activity through MCI Consumer Call Center (1900), or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report, or via the Ministry’s official website.
