MCI inspectors detected yesterday a printing press in one of the warehouses in Riyadh, through which the Holy Quran had been printed illegally in large quantities, exceeding 100,000 copies. This is a clear violation of the Supreme Order, which forbade the printing of the Holy Quran inside the Kingdom, except the printing which has been taking place at King Fahd Complex for printing the Holy Quran in Medina.
The inspection teams took control of the quantities and handed the site to the Ministry of Culture and Information to take further legal procedures by virtue of jurisdiction. The printing press was shut down, also all copies were confiscated and the owner was summoned for taking the necessary formal procedures and for imposing the legal penalties.
The Ministry of Commerce and Investment confirms the continuation of its inspection rounds on all institutions to control irregularities and to impose the legal penalties on violators.
MCI calls on all consumers to cooperate and to lodge their complaints and observations through MCI Consumer Call Center (1900) or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report, via their smart devices, or through the Ministry's website.
