In cooperation with the Municipality of East Dammam, MCI inspection teams seized more than (133) tons of rotten meat, unsuitable for the human consumption at a warehouse in Al Khalidiyah neighborhood in Dammam.
In cooperation with the Secretariat of the Eastern Region and the Municipality of East Dammam, MCI inspection teams detected a refrigerated warehouse containing imported rotten meat. This rotten and expired meat is refilled in cartons with new validity dates and the country of origin is changed as well, then it is distributed to the markets. Therefore, (17,738) cartons containing more than (133 tons) of rotten and expired meat had been seized, besides confiscating a set of empty cartons, ready to be refilled, a large number of stickers with new validity dates and a new country of origin.
MCI inspection teams seized as well 2 packaging machines used for packing the rotten meat, also illegal labors from different nationalities had been arrested. All the necessary procedures had been taken at the site and the owner was summoned to the Ministry’s headquarters for further investigation and then the case to be referred to the Public Prosecution.
MCI would like to confirm the continuation of its inspection tours on all commercial establishments and warehouses to ensure their regular work and the absence of counterfeiting, fraudulent practices and manipulation towards the consumers. All consumers are kindly requested to cooperate by lodging their complaints and observations through MCI Consumer Call Center (1900), or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report, or via the Ministry's official website.
