 MCI Inspection Teams Carry out Field Inspection Tours on 2852 Establishments Selling Sanitary Ware and Water Preserving Devices

The Ministry of Commerce and Investment has carried out field inspection tours on outlets selling sanitary ware in all regions of the Kingdom to verify their commitment to the technical regulation relevant to water preserving devices that came into force recently for protecting the consumers.
 
The results of the control and inspection rounds resulted in inspecting 2852 establishments, 79 outlets were found guilty of violating the regulations, and 26,107 pieces were seized, since they do not meet the approved standard specifications.
 
The most prominent violations observed, included not placing the water preserving labels on the devices, and the incorrect data on such labels.
 
The Ministry has already informed all companies, establishments and outlets, selling sanitary ware, to place water preserving labels on the offered devices, stating that any violation would lead to imposing fines and penalties, in accordance with Anti-Commercial Fraud Law.
 
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Commerce and Investment has launched inspection campaigns to monitor and control sanitary ware outlets in different regions of the Kingdom. This is after the technical regulation of water preserving devices came into force. Notably, this is part of the Ministry's keenness and efforts to control and follow up the application of water rationalization on sanitary ware in cooperation and coordination with the relevant authorities, namely: The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, General Authority of Customs and the National Water Company.

This campaign comes as a response by the concerned authorities to the requirements of the technical regulation, relevant to water preserving devices in the Kingdom, so that the consumers can have an idea about the efficiency rates of water consumption and preserving easily.
 
The Ministry of Commerce and Investment calls on all users of sanitary ware to report and to lodge their complaints against any establishments not committing of placing the water preserving labels on the products, specified in the technical regulation, namely (Water Mixers, Taps, toilets, mixers and heads of showers, rinsers and urine basin). They can communicate through MCI Consumer Call Center (1900) round the clock, or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report.
