Detecting Labors Counterfeiting the Country of Origin for Electrical Devices and Plumbing Materials
The Inspection Rounds Conducted by MCI Field Teams in a number of shops and markets in Tabuk revealed the existence of fraud and manipulation in the electrical appliances and plumbing materials, represented in counterfeiting the country of origin, where a number of shops were detected putting the phrase “Made in Germany" and "Made in Japan" on products which were made in China. All the quantities were immediately confiscated and then to be destroyed, and those involved were summoned for investigation and taking the legal procedures against them.
The total number of seizures reached 4 thousand items including more than 2,000 pieces of household electrical appliances, connections and lighting lamps, the trade data of some of them were unknown, in addition to more than 1,500 pieces of sanitary ware made in China.
During the Control Campaign, the MCI Inspection Teams monitored bad storage of the merchandise inside the warehouses, as well as detecting a number of violations, such as not putting the price tag, and not granting the purchase invoices to the consumers, in addition to not writing the invoices in Arabic.
Meanwhile, the Inspection Teams in Tabuk confiscated more than 1,200 cans of expired foodstuffs, included quantities of cheese, canned food and mixed sesame oil, and more than 700 pieces of masks and clothing bearing logos and drawings in violation of the law(Share`a), and fake sunglasses.
The Inspection Teams also detected 2000 empty cans bearing trademarks to be filled with nuts and sold without the authorization of the trademark owner.
The Ministry emphasizes that it will not tolerate in imposing the legal penalties on violators and those involved in the practice of fraud and counterfeiting, and all that put the health and safety of consumers at risk.
