MCI Stopped the activity of a factory in Hail cheating the consumers through mixing the flour and coffee with products of the same type but of poor quality, and they are packed inside bags bearing famous brands in order to be marketed and sold as if they were of high quality. The involved factory was closed and all the quantities were confiscated, as well as the involved officials were summoned for investigation and taking the legal procedures against them.
The details go back when the MCI Inspection Teams carried out Inspection Rounds on commercial and industrial sites. During that rounds, they detected the workers in one of the factories mixing poor kind of flour and Arabic coffee and then they packed that in bags of famous brands. At the same time, this process of packing and mixing is done in unhealthy places, and unfit for packing foodstuffs, in addition to the presence of primitive equipment that lacks the health requirements.
It turns out that the labors are marketing the adulterated flour to shops and consumers by claiming that it is made in Dubai.
MCI had earlier announced the closure of warehouses and factories in a number of regions of the Kingdom, where the labors carried out adulteration through filling shoddy and poor products in bags of famous brands, they were forging the expiry date as well, and worked with poor and primitive equipment in unhealthy and unfit locations. Large quantities were confiscated and destroyed with the application of the statutory procedures against those involved.
This comes within the intensive inspection campaigns carried out by MCI in various regions of the Kingdom, to ensure the quality of the stored materials, and those offered for sale, and to ensure the absence of violations that may affect the health and safety of the consumer.
The Ministry stresses that it will not tolerate in the application of the statutory procedures on the violators and those involved in the practice of fraud and counterfeiting, and all that puts the health and safety of consumers at risk.
