The Ministry of Commerce and Investment has announced the implementation of an integrated control plan on the markets and outlets in various regions of the Kingdom. This plan relies on intensifying field inspection tours in all parts of the Kingdom to ensure that the decision relevant to Citizen Account Program, which is targeting and supporting low-income families to bear the expenses of the current economic reform, is not exploited or misused.
The Ministry is endeavoring to follow-up and control any unjustified increase in the prices of goods and commodities, in addition to ensuring and verifying the abundance of goods and products supply, as well as ensuring that there are multiple suppliers of such commodities to create free competition, thus to be in favor of the consumer.
MCI has confirmed the readiness of the Consumer Call Center, in addition to increasing the staff, besides assigning additional field inspection teams to ensure the rapid response to consumer complaints, also to verify the availability of commodities and the stability of their prices, also to ensure the commitment of the commercial institutions with the current R&R, including Anti-Commercial Fraud Law, the Commercial Data System and the Trademarks System.
The Ministry has taken into consideration all the necessary precautions and procedures to speed up the intervention and response to any relevant cases in various regions of the Kingdom in cooperation with all concerned government authorities to ensure that the financial support to the beneficiaries of the Citizen Account Program is not exploited or misused. This is by intensifying field inspection tours before and after the implementation of the reform decisions, and to follow-up any changes in the market prices and determine the causes.
MCI will not hesitate to impose legal penalties on offenders and those refraining from selling, storing goods, not giving invoices, or failing to comply with the fixed prices of certain goods and those who do not place price tags on the products.
MCI calls on all consumers to lodge their complaints or observations directly through MCI Consumer Call Center "1900" or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report or via the Ministry's website.
