Items Stored in Random Places and in Violation of the Health Requirements
MCI had foiled the sale of more than 25 thousand expired foodstuffs and unfit for the human consumption, after detecting the items in warehouses and commercial centers in the Governorate of Al Qurayyat. The Control Teams monitored, during sudden inspection tours, storing large quantities of those commodities inside warehouses in ways contrary to the health requirements. These items had been immediately confiscated and destroyed because they were considered a risk to the health and safety of consumers. The owners were summoned for investigation and taking the legal procedures against them.
The confiscated items Included a variety of biscuit packets, potato chips, in addition to bottles of soft drinks and various juices stored at the center of the warehouses in a random way, where insects and rodents were spread there, as well as large quantities of used tires were found amid those warehouses.
MCI had carried out control campaigns in various regions of the Kingdom, resulted in the confiscation and destruction of large quantities of expired food commodities.
This comes within the framework of the intensive inspection campaigns carried out by the Ministry on factories, warehouses and shops in all regions of the Kingdom to verify the quality of the stored items and those offered for sale and to ensure the absence of violations that may affect the health and safety of the consumer.
MCI emphasizes that it will not tolerate in imposing the legal penalties against the violators and those involved in the practice of fraud and manipulation and all that put the health and safety of consumers at risk.
