The Ministry of Commerce and Investment has defamed a company specialized in wholesale and retail of foodstuffs, household, office furniture and clothing in Khobar city, Eastern Region. This is after a court ruling being issued by the Administrative Court in Dammam, stating and proving that the said company is found guilty of violating the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law. The said company announced offering discount and sale for the consumers without obtaining a license. This is considered a clear violation to the rules and conditions of making discount or sale, and this act is a kind of misleading and deceiving the consumers.

The court issued a ruling imposing a fine on Hypermarket and the manager responsible for such offense. The sentence to be published in two local newspapers at the expense of the violators.

The details go back when MCI inspectors received a tip against the said company. After carrying out the necessary investigation, the said company was found guilty of violating the discount and sale conditions. Accordingly, the case was referred to the judicial authorities for taking the necessary legal measures against the violators.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry has provided e-service for issuing licenses related to discount and sale online. This is part of the Ministry’s keenness to verify how far is the sale true, as well as to ensure that there is no manipulation, misleading or deception on the consumers, besides eliminating all false offers.

MCI would like to confirm the continuation of addressing all violations related to Anti-Commercial Fraud Law. The Ministry will not hesitate to take stern measures and impose legal penalties on the violators, in view of the consequences of cheating and deceiving levied on the consumers.

MCI calls on all consumers to lodge their complaints through MCI Consumer Call Center (1900) or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report, or via the Ministry's website.
