MCI continued its Control Campaigns on the counterfeit and fake electrical materials and appliances, where extensive inspection rounds had been carried out on the shops of electrical and building materials. Therefore, 5,000 items had been confiscated, including electrical connections, plugs and mobile phone chargers, which were counterfeit and non-conforming to the standard specifications. Those involved were summoned for investigation and taking the legal measures against them.
This comes as a continuation of the Ministry's previous campaigns on the counterfeit and non-conforming electrical appliances in different regions and governorates of the Kingdom, which resulted in the confiscation and destruction of large counterfeit quantities, closing the involved shops and the application of the necessary regulations against the violators.
MCI emphasizes that it will continue its Control Rounds on warehouses, factories and commercial institutions to ensure their regular work, the absence of fraud and manipulation practices on the consumers and to stop exploiting the demand for purchase in selling and marketing any counterfeit or adulterated commodity.
MCI also stresses that it will not tolerate in imposing the legal penalties on violators and those involved in the practice of fraud and counterfeiting, and all that puts the health and safety of consumers at risk.
MCI calls on all the consumers to report their complaints and observations to the Notification Center in the Ministry on the phone No. 1900.
