H.E. the Minister of Commerce and Investment, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al Qassabi, headed the meeting of the Steering Committee of the Commerce and Investment System, held at the Ministry's headquarters, attended by H.E. the Governor of the General Investment Authority Engr. Ibrahim bin Abdul Rahman Al Omar, H.E. Deputy Minister of Commerce and Investment Engr. Majed bin Abdullah Al Bawardi, and H.E. the MCI advisor and Governor of the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Dr. Ghassan bin Ahmed Al Sulaiman.
At the beginning of the meeting, H.E. the Minister welcomed Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar, Engr. Majid Al-Bawardi and Dr. Ghassan Al-Sulaiman, after the issuance of the Royal Order, relevant to appointing Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar as Governor of the General Investment Authority, also Engr. Majid Al-Bawardi as Deputy Minister of Commerce and Investment, and Dr. Ghassan Al-Sulaiman, as Advisor at the Ministry of Commerce and Investment. H.E. the Minister congratulated them on the noble royal trust, wishing that they would fulfill the aspirations of the wise leadership, and to serve their country and its citizens.
H.E. Dr. Al-Qasabi affirmed that the Commerce and Investment System receives great attention from the wise leadership. This comes within the keenness of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, H.R.H. Crown Prince and H.R.H. Deputy Crown Prince to provide all necessary means to improve the local economy, as well as to improve the investment environment and to diversify the sources of income, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
After that, the attendants reviewed the developments of the executive work of MCI initiatives, relevant to the National Transformation Program 2020. Various topics listed on the agenda were discussed as well, giving directives for taking the necessary measures towards them.
It is worth mentioning that MCI Steering Committee holds its meeting on every Sunday, in the presence of MCI senior officials, the General Investment Authority, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises, the Saudi Organization for the Accredited Evaluators and the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants.
