MCI Continues to Detect Fake Auto Parts and Seize 80 thousand Pieces in Riyadh

MCI inspection teams proceed their inspection tours to combat auto parts forgery in Riyadh city. Recently, they detected Asian labors, in Al Faisaliah quarter, south of Riyadh, who used to forge the country of origin from China and India to Germany and Italy, then they used to market such spares, claiming and misleading the consumers that they are of high quality.
MCI has shut down the warehouses used to forge and store the fake quantities. Those responsible were summoned for investigation and taking the legal procedures against them, in cooperation and coordination with the joint security campaigns. The seized items included 80 thousand counterfeit auto spares, together with the relevant stickers and empty boxes bearing famous trademarks.
The details go back upon receiving a report about two warehouses, used for forging auto spare parts, one is used for storing stickers and empty cartons, bearing the phrases “Made in German" and "Made in Italy" , while the other warehouse is used for storing the forged spares, to be distributed in the local markets.
The seized quantities included 42,775 auto spare parts, 3,000 Vapco counterfeit pumps, 6,000 fake Erlenk machine front part, 3,000 fake shock absorbers and clutch, 2200 fake belts, bearing Continental brand.
 The seizures included as well 5,400 forged Dynamo for "Bush" brand, 1,420 fake FTI chassis, 2,100 "Doji" fake shock absorbers 7600 fake "Peral" and "Volvo brake pads,  "2,400" fake valve for Mercedes Benz brand, 4615" fake Turbo for Mahley, Burke Werner, Hollister and Garrett brand.
A total of 36,400 stickers and empty cartons were seized and destroyed, including 3000 cartons bearing the brand of "Faq", and 500 "Mercedes" stickers, 10,000 "BTG" stickers, 2900 "Sachs" stickers, and 20,000 stickers for "Hello Gram".
It is worth mentioning that offering any products for sale contrary to the Anti-Commercial Fraud System, will expose the violator to a fine of up to five hundred thousand riyals or imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years or both.
This comes at a time when the Ministry of Commerce and Investment continues to carry out its inspection tours on warehouses and commercial establishments to ensure their regular works, and to ensure as well the absence of fraud or fraudulent practices on consumers, and to eradicate the supply of any counterfeit or substandard products in the market. MCI will not hesitate to impose legal penalties on offenders and those involved in counterfeiting, and all that put the safety of consumers at risk.
MCI calls on all consumers to lodge their complaints and observations to the Consumer Call Center 1900 or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report, via their smart phones.
