The Largest Detection of Used Tires in the Kingdom
MCI Control Teams ambushed 50 warehouses located in Al Ghorabi area south of Riyadh storing used tires inside the cellars and then to be marketed to the shops. More than 150 thousand used tires were seized and confiscated, in the largest seizure made in this regard. All the violated warehouses were closed and the owners were summoned for investigation and taking the necessary legal procedures against them.
The details go back when the Control Teams carried out investigation on warehouses used for storing used tires. After verification, the said warehouses were raided, besides detecting about 18 large and small vehicles used as mobile warehouses to camouflage the Control Teams, where they were transported all by trucks to be seized and to take the necessary legal procedures.
The raid was carried out with the support of the joint security campaign, where it was also revealed a secret entrances reached between the showrooms and the cellars through water tanks in a very professional ways difficult to be detected, it turned out that these sites belong to four major tires showrooms in that area.
The Control Teams with the participation of the joint security campaign had detected dozens of homes with multiple floors used as well for storage, they had been opened and all the violated tires were confiscated, as well as detecting a shop supporting the involved persons especially in providing irregular labors and deliberately do storage and fraud and tried to camouflage the Control Teams.
This came within the control plan and the intensive campaigns continually implemented by MCI to ensure the regular works of the commercial establishments, and the absence of fraud on consumers, and to stop exploiting the demand for purchase in selling and marketing of any counterfeit or adulterated goods.
MCI emphasizes that it will not tolerate in applying the legal penalties on violators and those involved in the practice of fraud, and all that put the health and safety of consumers at risk.
